Suburban Timewaster

I play video games and review them.

Samantha Swift and the Hidden Roses of Athena (Bigfishgames.com)

After losing the Scepter of Zeus to Ravena Stryker, archeologist Samantha Swift discovers the lost shield of Athena.  Her quest, find each rose and unlock its hidden power.

The plot is similar to Indiana Jones with Samantha Swift collecting artifacts to donate to the local museum while in search of the ultimate one.  The plot’s not exactly deep but the references to mythology are interesting.  The same could be said about the characters, who follow the typical archetypes.

The game play is hidden object.  You go from scene to scene to collect them.  Some objects can be used to find hidden items.  You can also collect hints in the form of lightning bolts.  Not only can you use them to find items, you can also click on an item in your list to see its shape in the scanner.  In some scenes, you can participate in a mini-game in order to advance the story.

This game is fun yet simplistic.  I give it 6 out of 10; a good beginning to a fun series.
